The 2018 Sweetest Job NT - Local Workers for Local Seasonal Jobs

Get the pick of the crop through The Sweetest Job

The 2018 Sweetest Job NT project is aimed at assisting mango farmers in the Top End and Katherine / Litchfield regions to identify and employ suitable local people as seasonal workers on local farms.

This is an industry-driven project, funded and supported by Regional Development NT, NT Farmers, NT Department of Trade, Business and Innovation and Litchfield Council and will assist farmers to meet the requirement to consider local workers for seasonal jobs prior to engaging overseas workers.

How it works

Sweetest Job candidates will be screened and prepared with basic skills and knowledge prior to being referred to farmers for interview. The screening process includes:

  • Candidate information session - a no-holds-barred introduction to working conditions and requirements as a seasonal mango industry worker.
  • Group interview - to make sure candidates are physically capable.
  • On-farm trials / Induction - to assess suitability for the work and commitment to working the entire season.
  • Referral to farms for interview - Referral of suitable candidates to growers' recruitment process.

Register for The Sweetest Job project and have suitable candidates referred to you

By registering with the Sweetest Job NT project, we will know what your requirements are, and will be able to refer suitable, screened candidates to you. Registration will take about 3-5 minutes and will help us make things more efficient and get you the people you need.

We employed 24 people through The Sweetest Job. It is a fantastic initiative giving us access to local people with the skills to contribute to the success of our business.
